Excellent Glasgow label gives away 20 tracks from their back catalogue

You might well be familiar with Chemikal Underground. You know, the Glasgow-based label that brought you such delights as Arab Strap (and their members' myriad other projects), Mogwai and The Delgados? Who released the album that recently picked up the inaugural Scottish Album of the Year Award, Aidan Moffat & Bill Wells' Everything Is Getting Older? Ring any bells?

Well, whether or not it does, the label have very kindly put together a 20 track label sampler which gathers together a host of music from across their history, which they're making available from their website. And better still, it's free. Secret Hits was originally made available as a free compilation on Amazon, which, in their words "was all Jim Dandy until we realised the campaign was UK-wide only and therefore rendered those outside the country ineligible."

So now they've taken the step of uploading it to their website, and you can pick it up from here.

Contained within are such delights as The Phantom Band's 'Folk Song Oblivion', Human Don't Be Angry's '1985', and still one of the crowning glories of Mogwai's career, Young Team's magisterial 16-minute epic 'Mogwai Fear Satan', which should be made required listening for anyone considering a career in rock music, space exploration or particle physics.

"ENJOY," say they, "but don't be a complete tight arse and stick your hands in your pockets every once in a while, won't you?"
