Contrary to this morning's news, Pink Floyd have confirmed that they will not be performing at the closing ceremony of London 2012.

Yesterday, Ed Sheeran told the Australian radio station Nova that he would be performing 'Wish You Were Here' with the band. However, Pink Floyd have released a statement this afternoon denying this. Their announcement reads:

"In response to press speculation, Pink Floyd state that the band is NOT performing at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games."

I am simply shocked - SHOCKED - that that no-name frat boy couldn't make this happen.

Damn! This could have been the cultural event of the decade! The band that created the highest selling and most celebrated space rock album of all time, and the kid with the funny hair who writes songs about texting and ninjas and stuff! What a waste! Argh! ARGH!
