Richard H Kirk & Perc remix EP
Well they took their time didn't they? Factory Floor have finally confirmed that they've signed to DFA Records for a remix EP and their long-awaited debut album, which will be released early next year (via Juno.
The London trio have been putting out music since 2008, as well as playing live shows renowned for their hypnotic force and intensity, and released their last single Two Different Ways last year through the DFA. In the time period since its release, band member Nik Colk Void has released a solo single, and released an excellent collaborative live LP with ex-Throbbing Gristle members Cosey Fanni Tutti and Chris Carter under the name Carter Tutti Void.
From our perspective, the remixes EP looks almost as exciting as the album, gathering together two of UK industrial techno's finest practitioners to rework 'Two Different Ways' - Ali 'Perc' Wells and former Cabaret Voltaire man Richard H Kirk. The EP will feature two remixes by Perc (a beatless one and a dancefloor number), and one by Kirk.
The hook up makes sense - Kirk has previously released through Wells' label Perc Trax, and like Factory Floor, Wells has connections with Chris & Cosey (Chris Carter turned in an ace remix of Perc's 'My Head Is Slowly Exploding' last year). The remixes EP is set for release as 12" and digital on August 27th. But in the meantime, you can hear Perc's remix in this recent mix of his (it's about two thirds of the way through). Check the Quietus next week for a full report on the DFA signing.
