Birmingham's best festival heats up with acid ragga pressure from Kevin Martin's The Bug

As we've previously reported, the 10th edition of Birmingham's Supersonic Festival - which runs from 19th-21st October, and which we're media partners of - is piling on the pressure, with a hugely impressive line-up featuring the likes of Jarboe, UFOmammut, JK Flesh, Tim Hecker, Hype Williams and many more.

Now they've added a set of new names to the list, headed up by none other than Kevin Martin's toxic dancehall project The Bug. He's minting a new label and a new sound - Acid Ragga - this year, and is set to release his long-awaited follow-up to 2008's London Zoo later in 2012. This appearance at Supersonic teams him up with frequent vocal collaborators Flowdan and Daddy Freddy. Expect dancefloor demolition.

Also announced is Napalm Death's Nic Bullen, who will be bringing his new project to the stage at the festival. They're being tight lipped as of now as to the nature of the project, but more information is promised soon. Also added to the line-up are Tomoutonttu, Islaja and Lau Nau.

The Quietus and Supersonic are also co-hosting a pair of warm-up parties in London and Birmingham at the start of August, featuring Kevin Martin's other project, the pulsing lovers' dub of King Midas Sound, and former musical sparring partner Justin Broadrick as JK Flesh. Needless to say we're very excited about the outcome: for full details, click here.

More information and tickets for Supersonic are available via the festival's website.
