DOWNLOAD: New Amanda Palmer Track

Download 'Do It With A Rockstar', from the sometime Dresden Doll's forthcoming Kickstarter-funded album

Amanda Palmer, who recently made headlines thanks to her raising a vast sum of money on Kickstarter to help fund the release of her new album, is set to release the album in question in September. Entitled Theatre Is Evil, it features her new band, The Grand Theft Orchestra. We’ve been given a track from the album, titled ‘Do It With A Rockstar’ to give away for free download – download from the embed below. It was originally made available as part of a limited giveaway through Palmer’s site.

The album is being preceded by a six-city tour this June. Palmer is set to reveal music from the album in a series of small performances, which will happen alongside alongside a visual art exhibition featuring art from the likes of Shepard Fairey, Kristin Hersh and David Mack. The London leg of this tour kicks off this week at Shoreditch’s Village Underground, with the exhibition’s opening reception tonight. The exhibition will be open to the public from tomorrow, and on the 20th Palmer will play a sold out show in the venue, showcasing new material. The idea behind the intimate shows is to reward and feed back to people in these various cities who backed Palmer’s campaign through Kickstarter – full show information is available here.

"I’m pretty sure I became a musician so I’d have an excellent excuse to throw an Art Party everywhere I went," says Palmer of this tour. "This upcoming gallery tour is about as close as I get to fulfilling that fantasy. Wine flowing, visual art and artists everywhere, music playing loudly, everybody excited about the album in one tiny room, jumping up and down…it doesn’t get any better than that, really."
