Hyperdub Take Over Koko Tomorrow

The Hidden Depths of Hyperdub to take place at London's Koko tomorrow night, featuring Laurel Halo, Actress, Rashad & Spinn and more

Ever-mutating London label Hyperdub are set to take over Camden's Koko tomorrow night via Black Atlantic, bringing a selection of artists from their roster (and affiliates) to explore the label's music and its surroundings. Headlining proceedings will be Laurel Halo, whose excellent (if divisive) Quarantine album is the latest LP from the label. She was a late announcement to the bill, having only been announced after her excellent performance at Field Day.

Hyperdub boss Kode9 will be DJing, and will be opening the night from 7:30 with a set of old and as-yet-unheard Burial material - a treat for those arriving early. Hyperdub long-runners Scratcha DVA and Cooly G will be playing live, the former joined for live vocals by Zaki Ibrahim, Natalie Maddix, Aliesha Lee & Isabelle Bentink. Both have albums out this year: DVA's Pretty Ugly, which hit shelves in March in a blaze of wriggling-worm synths, and Cooly G's upcoming Playin' Me. Rounding off the line-up are three artists who haven't notched up any actual releases through the label, but whose sounds remain strongly connected to its ethos and evolution: Actress, whose RIP album is one of the year's best so far, and Chicago footworkers Rashad & Spinn, whose appearance comes at a time when footwork's influence is increasingly creeping into Hyperdub's lexicon (not least of which via Kode9's genre-spanning DJ sets).

Tickets are a snip at a fiver, and can be bought here.
