First batch of collectible classic soundtracks announced
The brainchild of Rough Trade Shop manager Spencer Hickman, the Death Waltz Recording Company specialises in "delivering high-end collector's packages pressed on vinyl, including extensive liner notes from composers, brand new and exclusive artwork from a variety of renowned cult artists as well as bonus screen prints and posters." In addition to handsome black LPs plus A2 posters to be sold through traditional retail outlets worldwide, this exciting new soundtrack label also promises limited runs of 300 pressed on coloured wax, which will only be available from the Death Waltz Recording Company website.
The imprint's inaugural outing will be the vinyl debut of Fabio Frizzi's score for Lucio Fulci's 1979 flick Zombie Flesh Eaters (aka Zombi 2, Graham Humphrey's cover art pictured above), which boasts sleeve notes by Italian horror expert Stephen Thrower as well as the composer himself. Keep an eyeball peeled for the red and clear splatter special edition. Also scheduled for a May release is John Carpenter's own music for his 1981 action sci-fi Escape From New York, remastered with six bonus selections that didn't make it into the original film (read our interview with the director here). Future titles include The House Of The Devil, Let The Right One In and Donnie Darko
