Suicide and Ornette Coleman among artists covered on record

Bristolian Brit Hop hero Neneh Cherry is teaming up with rocking free-jazzers The Thing on a new album, it was revealed today. The Cherry Thing will be released on Smalltown Supersound on June 18 and will feature covers of songs by Suicide, (MF) Doom, The Stooges, Martina Topley Bird and Ornette Coleman.

The collaboration will also tackle a track by Neneh's father Don Cherry. The muscular jazz trio first met recording covers of the great man's work, and their name is derived from a Don Cherry song.

Live dates are going to be announced later in the year but in the meantime here's the track listing:

'Cashback' (Neneh Cherry)
'Dream Baby Dream' (Suicide)
'Too Tough to Die' (Martina Topley-Bird)
'Sudden Movement' (Mats Gustafsson)
'Accordion' (MF Doom)
'Golden Heart' (Don Cherry)
'Dirt' (The Stooges)
'What Reason' (Ornette Coleman)
