At a benefit gig in London last night, Blur’s Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon debuted a new Blur song, the band’s first new material since 2003’s Think Tank. Entitled ‘Under The Westway’, it’s a quiet, piano-led number that Albarn informed the crowd was written a few weeks ago.
It’s the first new material we’ve heard from Blur since they reformed in 2009 for a series of massive outdoor gigs, including shows at Hyde Park and Glastonbury, and suggests they might well buck the trend set by many reforming nineties bands and actually record and release some new material. Watch a video of the song, recorded at last night’s gig, below.
