One of our favourite guitar wielding people is Gemma Ray, so we were stoked when she said we could feature a couple of Sparks covers she's just recorded on the site.
The player below houses 'How Do I Get To Carnegie Hall' and 'Eaten By The Monster of Love' and even more confusingly the Mael brothers who are also fans of Ms Ray, have covered her covers in return.
These tracks will be coming out as a double-a side on February 20, which precedes her new album Island Fire, due out on April 16.
In the words of Gemma Ray: "I have long been a huge admirer of Sparks' non-conformity which allows them to take their uncompromising creativity to wherever it wants to go. But I really could not imagine what my thing combined with their thing would sound like, and that was a big part of the attraction."
And in the words of Sparks: "It takes a certain type of bravery to attack our songs. Gemma has both bravery and immense talent. We are moved by the results."

I like how she makes "Eaten By The Monster Of Love" sound like it could have come off of a recent Sparks record.

Excellent - agree with both comments. The '80s was IMO Sparks least productive era in terms of originality but they have redeemed themselves ever since the mid-nineties and the release of Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins. Gemma Ray is one unique lady whom I first heard doing a haunting rendition of The Gun Club's 'Ghost on the Highway'.

The uber-cool Gemma Ray covering the eternally underrated Sparks! These songs came out even better than I could have imagined. Her take on Monster is more demented and dramatic than the original. Bravo.
