Talking Heads man and Caetano Veloso to release live collaborative performance from way back in 2004 through Nonesuch

Talking Heads frontman David Byrne is set to release a collaborative album with Brazilian musician/artist Caetano Veloso. The album, with a self-explanatory enough title of Caetano Veloso and David Byrne Live at Carnegie Hall, is set to be released through Nonesuch Records on March 13th.

In 2004 Byrne was invited to perform at New York’s Carnegie Hall with Veloso, as part of the Veloso-curated Perspectives series. Byrne and Veloso performed both solo and together, accompanied by cellist Jaques Morelenbaum and percussionist Mauro Refosco. The album consists of a recording of the show.

“From our first conversation I noticed David was the first rock musician who could really feel the essence of Brazilian music,” said Veloso of why he was keen to collaborate with Byrne.

Equally Byrne professed to be a longtime fan of Veloso’s music, saying “I’d been a Caetano fan since the late ‘80s, when I’d fallen headlong down the rabbit hole of Brazilian music.”

The album, which includes Veloso’s own solo music as well as acoustic, collaborative performances of Talking Heads songs, is available to pre-order from the Nonesuch site. Click here for full details.
