Days & Nights At The Takeaway to feature Polar Bear drummer in session with a range of guests

Seb Rochford, bandleader of shapeshifting London jazz ensemble Polar Bear, has started a monthly digital singles club. Entitled Days & Nights At The Takeaway, it will consist of a two-track digital single, released on the last Friday of each month.

The idea behind the project is to bring a range of different musicians into collaboration with Rochford, and each session will be recorded in his studio (which is located in a former takeaway restaurant, lending the singles club its name). He's no stranger to collaboration already: as well as heading up Polar Bear, he plays in a number of other bands - among them Fulborn Teversham, and until recently Acoustic Ladyland - as well as releasing joint records with London MC Jyager, ensemble The Basquiat Strings and more.

The first single, entitled 'Love A Sacred Path', is available now. It finds Rochford collaborating with British Indian singer Ranjana Ghatak and LA singer/poet Gina Loring on a scuzzy hip-hop track not a million miles from his Common Ground album with Jyager. It also features a remix by shapeshifting London trio LV, whose music through Hyperdub and Keysound over the last few years has moved seamlessly between dub, house, dubstep, grime and hip-hop.

You can listen to the tracks below. More information is available at the menu-styled Takeway website.
