LISTEN: David Lynch Remixing Zola Jesus
The Quietus , January 5th, 2012 11:35

Cinematic master of the strange, and creator of last year's Crazy Clown Time album, has remixed Zola Jesus' 'In Your Nature'

Zola Jesus, aka Nika Roza Danilova, has relented on her aversion to remixes by allowing director David Lynch to remix one of her tracks. It's now available to stream through Pitchfork - listen here.

Cinematic master of the surreal Lynch, who rose to fame after producing films such as Eraserhead and The Elephant Man, collaborated with his engineer Dean Hurley to rework Danilova’s ‘In Your Nature’.

Speaking to Pitchfork, Danilova said: “I feel like reinterpreting something can remove its context, but when David Lynch asks to remix your song, you let him.” Lynch's remix will accompany the original when it is released as a single on Sacred Bones on February 21st.

Lynch’s remix comes after a busy year for Danilova, which saw the singer release Conatus before heading out on tour and spending time in the studio with Flood and Orbital. It was also a busy year for Lynch - his debut album Crazy Clown Time was released to critical acclaim near the end of 2011, something he spoke about in depth in his interview with us.
