Scottish folk guitarist and Pentangle member has passed away at the age of 67

Legendary Scottish guitarist Bert Jansch has died after a long battle with cancer, aged 67.

Jansch was a founding member of Pentangle, one of the UK's most influential folk bands, who formed in the late 60s and incorporated elements of jazz and rock at a time when few were doing the same. The original line-up reformed and toured in 2008, and apparently were working on new material.

Jansch had a unique style of playing the guitar which was hugely influential on generations of younger musicians, originally cited by the likes of Led Zeppelin, and more recently picked up on by US artists like Devendra Banhart, Jana Hunter and Joanna Newsom.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
