Radiohead have today posted a new track on their Dead Air Space website. ‘Staircase’ is taken from their forthcoming From The Basement sessions, which feature the band playing in a darkened subterranean space. Must be said that on first lesson ‘Staircase’ is a rather interesting piece, a sense of melancholia that doesn’t weigh the song down, and an interesting rhythm played by two drummers: Phil Selway and Clive Deamer, who plays with Portishead. It seems to be Radiohead’s interest in Burial & co eloquently explored in a band format for the first time. You can listen below. And by the way, we hear from the band’s management that they’re well on the way to resolving the King Of Limbs newspaper LP delivery issues that Ian Rankin wrote about a few weeks back.
