Quietus Writer Cycles To Roadburn!

Environmentally conscious man of hardcore pedals forth

This weekend, the Roadburn Festival takes place in Tilburg, Holland. Now, with Swans, Sunn O))), Wardruna, Godflesh, Liturgy, Alcest, Carlton Melton, Earth, Winter, Voivoid, Candlemass, Shrinebuilder, Weedeater, and Master Musicians of Bukkake on the bill, we're ripping out our own bones in sorrow that we're not there. Some, though, hardier souls, are making the journey to the lowlands of the east... and one of them is doing so using only the power of his thigh and calf muscles. Jamie Thomson, who is covering the Festival for us, is a Guardian and Quietus writer and man of hardcore, also happens to be nimble on the two-wheeled dromedary. He's therefore taken it upon himself to cycle to Tilburg - leaving yesterday, he's making good progress (which you can keep up with by following him on twitter via @RoadburnRider). This morning he was left in need of breakfast, bank and bowel movement in Maasluis; has passed Rotterdam and, in his most recent tweet, reveals he is a righteous man: "Could have taken the waterbus all the way to dordrecht instead of waiting for the short-hop one in my original route. But that's cheating". Keep an eye on @RoadburnRider for continuous updates, and check the site soon for full reportage of cycling derring-do and music extreme.
