Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
I love the vision of this, but mostly the drumming and guitars. Epic eight-minute tracks like ‘In My Time Of Dying’ and other heavyweights like ‘Kashmir Corner’ counter the quiet dynamic of folksy ones like ‘Bron-Yr-Aur’. My favourite is ‘In The Light’ – I love the synths and the lyric is great, but the groove and riff pummel you down into submission. Some of it was recorded in the legendary Olympic Studious, which is now closed. It’s where I spent a good deal of the 90s, because of the vibes laid down by the Stones and Zep before. I lament its loss as the number one studio facility in the world.

Page remains the number one influence for me, next to Lennon and McCartney – not only as a producer and writer, but also as a musician, so it was a massive honour for myself and Killing Joke to be presented with an innovation award last year by the man himself.
