Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

Killing Joke’s Youth On His 13 Favourite Records

In our latest Baker's Dozen feature, Youth tells us about his 13 favourite albums

So Sir Martin Glover – aka Youth, bassist of Killing Joke – becomes the latest artist to face The Quietus’s Baker’s Dozen challenge and tell us what his 13 favourite albums are, and exactly what makes them so special. And just like all the other lists we’ve had so far, it’s the unexpected choices that tend to be the most illuminating; rather than the inclusion of Iggy and the Stooges, The Beatles and David Bowie, it’s the more eclectic sci-fi film soundtracks and dub LPs that offer the most insight into what makes Killing Joke tick, and goes some way to explaining why they’re still such a relevant, forward-looking band over 30 years after their inception.

To read Youth’s choices, then, click the image below; and you should also be aware that we have two tickets to see the band perform at the Royal Festival Hall on April 1; go here to enter.
