Info scarce, but The Quietus crosses its fingers just in case...

We're sceptical, of course - and it often pays to be when it comes to news of new material from our Catherine - but whispered rumours are starting to circulate that Kate Bush will be releasing a new album this year.

Blog wotyougot.com are claiming that a new record from the singer will be out this year on EMI. The album - if it is released this year - will be her ninth studio LP.

I pray that there are no songs about washing machines (and I'm not a praying woman).

I have reason to believe the lady has been writing from a very good place. So yes we may prepare ourselves.

I think you're absolutely right: it WILL be her ninth studio album.

If you think that song was about washing machines then you have no right to comment on anything related to Kate Bush.

It's not going to happen, not this year or anytime soon. Talking about it is just mental masturbation. Kates done releasing studio albums.

Never mind another album, what about a tour? Or even a wee one-off Glastonbury headline or something...

she will and the aphex twin will feature and whilst B.P. will shelve the idea of drilling in the arctic, the nme will stop writing about the beatles and bands that like the beatles and start concentrating on coltrane and all bands will play loud enough at festivals for it to be worth the cost of the ticket....

The ludicrously overpriced "Don't Look Back" All Tomorrow's Parties performance of "Hounds Of Love" is surely just around the corner.

In reply to K. A. Laity:

Theoretically that Washine Machine song (Mrs Berlesconi or whatever) should be the most pretentious rubbish since There Goes A Tenner, but ... oddly ... I rather like it. It reminds me of Willow's Song from The Wicker Man.

Peter Jackson is in talks for her to add something to the HOBBIT soundtrack - although it's a few years off it's a match made in heaven
