Geoff Barrow Twitters (again)

Firstly, an apology to Geoff Barrow for our habit of taking what he writes on Twitter and turning it into news stories. His righteous anti-marketing blast last week ended up all over the press, and Clash Magazine (as they often do) got the wrong end of the stick. Anyway, today Barrow has hinted on his Twitter that we're all mistaken in thinking that Portishead are to put out a new album this year. Thus he writes: "Dunno where the news came from that we are releasing this year, unless like some other bands we get someone else to write it for us!"

More a case of "please pay attention to my band even though we're currently doing nothing at all". It must be *agony* to maintain such a prolific career.

it isn't really anti marketing if you simply say NO! to a bunch of things only to announce a new album now is it?

Wow. When I read that last report with all the "NO!" business, my reaction was "Fuck Yeah! Stick It To The Everybody!". However, it seems that their new concept isn't actually anti-marketing, but rather a two year old child's discovery, and empowerment by, the ultimate, negative adverb. Should be interesting, NO?
