Morrissey Reveals His Favourite LPs Of All Time
The Quietus , August 13th, 2010 10:04

For Friday 13th, Morrissey has scanned in the sleeves of his favourite 13 albums, emailed them to us, and requested that we put them online. Here are the results:

It's all too easy to forget that, as well as being one of the most enigmatic figures in English music of the past three decades, Steven Patrick Morrissey is at heart a music fan like you and I. Behind the wonderfully worded barbs in the music press and that singular sound and aesthetic that he's carved out for himself over the years, there lies a hungry pair of ears. One hardly need recount all the evidence for this: the youthful letters to the music press, the cover of Suede's 'My Insatiable One' in the early 90s, his occasional presence in the crowd of tiny backroom gigs. But sometimes it's nice to know the specifics, so, to celebrate the announcement of the reissue of Bona Drag and 'Everyday Is Like Sunday' this autumn, we've the definitive list of Morrissey's favourite 13 albums, with sleeves scanned by The Man Himself. For some, Quietus writers have contributed thoughts on what the connections are between these favourites and Morrissey's own work, while others feature quotes from the singer. For comprehensive details of the reissues please visit the wonderful True To You Morrissey site. Thanks to them and Scott Steele for their assistance for this feature.
