Flo & The Machine Mercury Music Prize Favourite

But she's backing Glasvegas...

The Quietus is used to being disappointed by the Mercury Music Prize, so it’s with a sad sense of inevitability that we discover that Florence And The Machine are the bookies favourites for this evening’s bash.

Their album Lungs is the 11/4 favourite to take home the gong with bookmakers William Hill, ahead of Kasabian and Speech Debelle on 7/2 and Bat For Lashes and The Horrors at 7/1.

However, Florence And The Machine singer Florence Welch is tipping Scottish rockers Glasvegas for the prize, telling the Daily Record: "I would really love Glasvegas to win.

"They really deserve it. They are not the type of people to get carried away by it."
