Oasis pulled out of last night’s headline slot at the V Festival after lead singer Liam Gallagher was diagnosed with laryngitis.
The band had played the first leg of the festival at Weston Park, Staffordshire, but cancelled last night’s performance at Chelmsford, Essex after Gallagher was advised by doctors not to perform.
An Oasis spokesperson said: "After a year of being on the road this is the first performance to be lost to a band member’s illness, so naturally we are all completely gutted. Liam is resting and should be fine to resume the tour next Friday in Paris."
Snow Patrol were brought in to take the Manchester band’s place, with Gary Lightbody leading his band in two acoustic covers of Oasis hits ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Champagne Supernova’ during their encore.
