He created some of the most memorable films of the 80s including The Breakfast Club, Christmas Vacation, Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Battleship Pretension's David Bax looks back on his legacy with a list of his top ten films.

Weird Science

If there’s one thing that Revenge of the Nerds taught us, it’s that nerdy boys may spend all their time in the basement looking at a computer or reading but they yearn to get laid just as much as the rest of us. Unlike Nerds, though, Weird Science is more pleasant, and strangely more accurate, in its innocence. There’s very little in the way of misogyny here, it’s just the story of two boys who try to take a shortcut on the path to understanding girls and being cool. They of course fail but at least we all learn a valuable life lesson: Bill Paxton is great at playing douche bags.
