Obviously, Sting's presence in this much maligned adaptation of Frank Herbert's series of books was one of the major selling points of the film at the time.

But I would still call it a cameo, because his screen time is so short and memorable and, like all the best Lynch cameos, part of the weirdness comes from just how incongruous this celebrity is with the rest of the film. That's not Feyd-Rautha in silver Speedos, that's goddamn Sting!
