Music to accompany Man Of Aran to be released

British Sea Power are to release a soundtrack to 1934 film the Man of Aran this coming spring. "We’ve finished recording the Man of Aran soundtrack and it should be mixed and finished by the end of January", said BSP guitarist Martin Noble.

"It features mostly brand new music, plus re-worked versions of older songs including 'True Adventures', 'The Great Skua' and 'North Hanging Rock'.

There will apparently be a live performance along with the film at the British Film Institute on April 23rd, with a DVD release "soon after".

For the inquisitive, Man Of Aran was made by Robert J. Flaherty in 1934 to explore the hard life of the Aran islanders, for whom life had hardly changed in centuries. It shows them battling the elements to eke out an existence against the power of the sea, and a harsh, unforgiving land.
