The Sugababes have announced that considering boycotting next year’s Brit Awards. Yet rather than this being ‘Babes waking up to the reality that the whole thing is a back-slapping industry bean-feast, it seems to be more of a case of sour grapes.
Although the ladies have been nominated for six awards, they’ve only won once, nabbing Best Dance act in 2003. Speaking to the Mirror, Keisha Buchanan whined, "I say this in the most humble way but when you think of pop bands the Sugababes are definitely up there. I’m proud that Gordon Brown is recognising us, but why not the Brits? We’re British for God’s sake – and we’ve done well. Surely we deserve an award after all the hard work we’ve done?"
Amelle Berrabah added, "I’m telling you, if they don’t nominate us this year, that’s it, I’m done. I’m not going." That sounds like a petulant foot stamp. "They should sack all those old men on the board and leave it to the fans to decide. They don’t know what they are talking about."
