Joaquin Phoenix Quits Acting, Burgess Steps In

Walk The Line star hooks up with Charlatans frontman

Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix has announced his decision to quit the day-job in order to pursue a career in music… with Tim Burgess.

It’s always the actors who do this, isn’t it? Never the plumbers or the electricians.

The Walk The Line star dropped the bombshell while talking to a US celebrity TV show ‘Extra’ at a benefit for a Paul Newman-backed charity in San Francisco last night.

"I want to take this opportunity .. to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor," Phoenix said. "I’m not doing films any more."

Grieving cinephiles can console themselves with the prospect of a collaborative LP Phoenix has been working on with Charlatans frontman Burgess, who has of late been given to swanning about Shoreditch with a sort of medieval bowl haircut.

Mid-life crises? What mid-life crises?
