Carrie & Lowell set to see Stevens return to 'folk roots'

Sufjan Stevens has announced a new album, Carrie & Lowell. It'll be out on March 30 via Stevens' Asthmatic Kitty label, with the text accompanying the news describing it as "a return to Stevens' folk roots". Get your ears and eyes onto a minute-long trailer below.

His ninth studio album - which takes its name from his mother and stepfather - it's his first full-length since 2010's The Age Of Adz. Since then, though, he's kept himself busy with various operations, including Sisyphus, last year's collaboration with Son Lux and Serengeti, and joint projects with the New York City Ballet's Justin Peck. Before the album comes out, he'll be premiering Round-Up, a new commission for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which promises "an instrumental accompaniment to slow-motion rodeo footage". In the meantime, have a read of our last interview with Stevens, around ... Adz' release, here.
