Entries now being taken for next year's prize, which gets its official launch on November 1 at Liverpool Music Week closing party

Liverpool's GIT Award is now open for entries! The fourth edition of the prize, seeking to reward Merseyside's best new music, will be officially launched on November 1 with a gig featuring Lapsley, who won last year's One To Watch award and today announced that she's signed to XL, VEED, Queen Maud, Chemistry Lane and a DJ set from or:la as part of Liverpool Music Week's closing party. That will be at the city's 24 Kitchen Street venue, while the prize ceremony itself will take place at the Kazimier on April 4 2015.

Previous winners include Forest Swords, Baltic Fleet and Loved Ones, while the main prize has now been joined by two further awards, the aforementioned One To Watch, and the Inspiration Award. Says Peter Guy, editor of the city's Getintothis blog and founder of the award: "It's great to be back for a fourth year. The GIT Award has consistently shone a light on the first-rate music emanating from within Merseyside - and it's through the passion of the judging panel and the small but excellent team which put it together that those artists and their work are pushed to the forefront of the national music industry's consciousness." To enter, artists and bands need to send four tracks to gitaward@getintothis.co.uk.
