Quietus Mix 66: Tengui Previews Colony Vs. Prologue
The Quietus , June 19th, 2012 10:02

Colony and Prologue team up to take over London's Corsica Studios this Saturday 23rd June, with a mighty line-up in tow. Colony's Tengui mixes us up a storm to preview the night

London promoters Colony have put on some of our favourite techno nights in the capital over the last few years, with recent events finding the Quietus staff getting an eyes-down dance on to the likes of Perc, AnD, Truss and Raime, and previous guests having included the likes of Peverelist, Peter Van Hoesen, TVO, The Black Dog and Andy Stott. This Saturday, 23rd June, they're teaming up with the Prologue label to put on a mighty line-up at Corsica Studios, and to mark the occasion, Colony's Tengui has recorded us a mix previewing the event, which you can listen to below.

The mix contains music by everyone set to appear on Saturday, most notably Italy's purveyor of trippy techno Donato Dozzy, last heard releasing a stunning album with Neel, Voices From The Lake. Dozzy's reputation as a dancefloor hypnotist precedes him - as one of the Prologue label's key artists, he helped forge the idea of 'headfuck techno' that's frequently been associated with the label. Dozzy will both be DJing in the main room, and playing live alongside Neel as Voices From The Lake. Also in the front room are Claudio PRC, hot on the heels of his great Inner State album, and Cassegrain, who will be making their debut UK appearance.

Colony's second room features a no less impressive line-up, though one whose roots lie a tad closer to home. As well as Tengui himself making an appearance, and Colony residents, recent London-to-Berlin relocatee Sigha will be DJing. Since his early releases on Hotflush, which were sparse, frosty and slightly two-steppy in tone, he's plunged deep into sub-heavy minimalist techno. Also appearing are Forward Strategy Group, who have been responsible for one of our favourite LPs of this year so far in the scathing Labour Division, as well as Isodyne, the side project of Patrick from FSG whose Dreams Torn From The Sky EP from last year is well worth your time.

"This mix brings together tracks by all the artists playing at our forthcoming Prologue party, plus a couple of gems from the label's back-catalogue," says Tengui of the mix. "It was put together quickly and mixed a good bit more spontaneously than my usual, to try and give an accurate reflection of what's in store on the night - if that's at all possible. The selection is certainly true to what both Prologue and Colony stand for: deep, dark, at times challenging but always immersive club music made in the true underground tradition. We're looking forward to making a lot of noise together on the 23rd."
