Eastern European vocal gorgeousness live at Klüb Gütenberg, supported by sloth biology

Our April installment of Klub Gutenberg will feature the Eastern European vocal group The Perunika Trio, plus zoologist Lucy Cooke with a talk on the biology of the sloth. This will be happening on Wednesday, April 11th at our usual home of The Old Queen's Head, and tickets are available here.

The Perunika Trio are an award-winning female vocal group who blend Bulgarian, Macedonian and Russian traditional music into a broader Slavic repertoire – a place where the pagan past, Orthodox tradition and five centuries of Ottoman rule mix in a stunning realm of Slavic spirituality. At Klüb Gütenberg the Trio will sing live then give the audience an invigorating collective lesson in Bulgarian song. For music samples and more information, please visit their mySpace.

Preceding the Trio, broadcaster and zoologist Lucy Cooke will give her much acclaimed talk on "grade-A sloth-based cute crack" – the fascinating biology of the sloth. Lucy's film work with Sloths has recently become a media sensation, with substantial coverage in The Guardian, The Independent, The Washington Post and The Huffington Post.
