Hear 'Heat Death' now

This afternoon, we have a free track to give away by Brighton's Standard Planets - a band we'll be publishing an interview with very soon. Until then, singer Ben Webster told us this about 'Heat Death'.

"There's a clip on You Tube where Timbaland is in the studio with Jay Z, and Timba's just playing him all these jams that he's been working on. Jigga doesn't know what to do with himself, he's in total shock. It's then that he hears 'Dirt Off Your Shoulders' for the first time. To see this international superstar humbled by this 25 stone dude with a massive bottle of Sunny D who comes across like a kid in a sweet store was just about the most inspiring thing I'd seen in a long time. This was the starting point for this song.

"Lyrics-wise, seeing as a lot of hip hop is so ego-based, I wanted to go the other way. Lyrically it's about wondering what someone from your past would think of you now and how we compartmentalise past friendships and relationships; I also like that the lyrics could be misconstrued as being a serial killer's first-hand account of his crimes. This is just a demo version and eventually will have more vocals, some different lyrics and probably be a bit shorter. Enjoy."
