Simon Fisher Turner presents World AIDS Day screening

Brighton's annual film festival Cine-City screens Derek Jarman's final film Blue on World AIDS Day (December 1), with a live soundtrack from his regular collaborator Simon Fisher Turner.

Blue is Jarman's most personal and experimental film, completed and released a few months before his death from AIDS-related complications in 1994. Famously, it features only an unchanging screen of Yves Klein-inspired blue, focussing the viewer's concentration on the collage of voices (John Quentin, Tilda Swinton, Nigel Terry and Jarman himself) on the soundtrack.

In its only performance this year, Fisher Turner and poet and musician Black Sifichi recreate Blue's sound design live at Brighton's Duke of York's cinema. For ticket details, go here.
