The controversial Form 696, a form of regulation that many say has been frequently used to shut down events predominantly based around grime and bashment, has been placed under review by the Metropolitan Police.
London mayor Sadiq Khan asked for the form to be re-examined after meeting a number of DJs, artists, promoters and venue owners, who all shared their concerns about its misuse by the Metropolitan Police.
Khan said that the form, which was first introduced in 2005, "shouldn’t compromise the capital’s vibrant grassroots music industry or unfairly target one community or music genre".
A number of events specifically related to events by black and Asian artists have been shut down by the Metropolitan Police since the introduction of Form 696, with rapper Giggs amongst those who’ve been affected.
