The record, their first in 12 years, sees founding member Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah link up once again with Adrian Sherwood

African Head Charge have a new album on the way.

Their first full-length record in 12 years, A Trip To Bolgatanga takes in 10 tracks, recorded primarily by the project's founding member, Bonjo Iyabinghi, together with Adrian Sherwood. To mark the album's announcement, they've shared a video for lead track 'Microdosing', which you can watch above.

Speaking about the production process of the album, Iyabinhghi said: "All the drumming and the chanting, it took a while to do. I'm always meeting drummers, all over Ghana. The Fante, the Akim, the Ga, the Bolgatanga, all the tribes, and they all have their different drums. I try to learn as much as I can, and put it all together. It's like cooking, when you're blending all of the elements, like yam, banana, pumpkin, and the end taste, that's where it matters. That's how I look at music."

On-U Sound will release A Trip To Bolgatanga on July 7, 2023.
