It's the first recorded project to emerge from the Daft Punk man since the duo's split

Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter is releasing a new solo album, Mythologies.

Out in April, the music featured on the orchestral record was first commissioned by the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for the ballet of the same name, which premiered last year when it was performed by the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine under the direction of Romain Dumas. The version featured on the album is also performed by the same orchestra.

Clocking in at 90 mins, Mythologies takes in 23 pieces and marks Bangalter's first full-length release since the split of Daft Punk in early 2021. The compositions on the record are influenced by Baroque music and American minimalism, according to press materials, while there is no electronic production featured.

Mythologies marks Bangalter's second score under his own name, after he provided the soundtrack for the 2002 Gaspar Noé film Irréversible. He also soundtracked the 2010 film Tron: Legacy as Daft Punk, together with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.

Warner Classics will release Mythologies on April 7, 2023.
