The updated edition of the band's 1985 album comes with previously unheard material

New Order are reissuing their 1985 studio album Low-Life.

Set for release in January, the box set reissue will include the full original album on vinyl, 2xCDs, 2xDVDs and a book. Previously unheard material by the band will also be included across the various formats within the release. One of the CDs, for example, will take in unreleased mixes and alternate versions of tracks such as 'Love Vigilantes', 'Sooner Than You Think' and 'Sub-Culture'.

The DVDs will include an unreleased live performance from Belgium's The Manhattan Club, as well as rarely seen footage from live sets at Rotterdam Arena, Toronto's International Centre and an edition of the BBC's show The Old Grey Whistle Test, filmed at Manchester's Haçienda.

The hardback book will take in rare photos and a new interview with the band's members, while the 180g vinyl LP pressing will be wrapped in its original Peter Saville-designed heavyweight tracing paper. Get a full breakdown of the various parts of the box via New Order's online store.

In addition to the box set, the band are putting out new 12-inch vinyl pressings of the album's singles. The Perfect Kiss will be pressed on limited edition clear vinyl and housed in a mirror sleeve, in addition to a standard edition. Shellshock is also getting a standard reissue, while Sub-Culture will come with a plain back sleeve, incorporating the original design of its first pressing.

Speaking about the limited edition press of The Perfect Kiss, sleeve designer Peter Saville said in a statement: "The mirror finish for The Perfect Kiss' sleeve was the idea at the time (1985) that unfortunately was not realised. I have wanted to see it ever since. The original concept was intended to evoke the reflective glamour of a lipstick in a minimal / pop art style."

Mute will release Low-Life on January 27, 2023.
