The rapper talks Prince, George Clinton and more in the latest instalment of our Le Guess Who? preview series centred around the coinciding Mega Record & CD Fair in Utrecht

Ahead of this November's Le Guess Who? festival in Utrecht, we are presenting a series of previews centred around the coinciding Mega Record & CD Fair, and artists playing at the festival.

Last week, Lucrecia Dalt, who is playing at the festival and curating part of the lineup, stepped up to talk about albums by Harry Belafonte, Japan and more. This week, it's the turn of Alabama rapper Pink Siifu, who highlights record by Sun Ra Arkestra, Kendrick Lamar and others, as we ask him to pick out some records he might be on the hunt for at Europe's biggest record fair.

Le Guess Who? will this year welcome the likes of William Basinski, faUSt, Pa Salieu, Ana Roxanne, Vladislav Delay, Jesu and Vanishing Twin, as well as guest curation from Midori Takada, John Dwyer, Phil Elverum, Matana Roberts and Lucrecia Dalt. The Mega Record & CD Fair will run alongside it in Utrecht. You can find more information about the fair here.

Le Guess Who? will take place from November 11 to 14, 2021. Find more information here.

Which three records would you be on the hunt for at the Mega Record & CD Fair?

Pink Siifu: Probably any signed album by Prince or anything from George Clinton's discography, Scarface, always love hearing new Sun Ra too. A Bad Brains vinyl, some Dungeon Family, can't go wrong with shit you already love. It's all about finding that new shit doe.

When / how did you get to know these records, and why are they special to you?

PS: Eye was raised on these records, took road trips with my mom with these records, my pops would play them sometimes. Just like life lessons for real, and complete time travel.

What album have you listened to the most over the last year?

PS: Probably DAMN. by Kendrick Lamar. Amazing Album.

What was the LP you had to hide from your parents?

PS: Eye been blessed to never have to hide music from my parents, lol. Eye pray Allah give others those same blessings.
