The multi-instrumentalist describes it as a footnote to her recent double album, 'Cantus, Descant'

Sarah Davachi has released a new tape called Laurus.

Out via her own Late Music label, which she launched this year, Davachi describes the six-track Laurus as "a footnote" to Cantus, Descant, the double album that she released in September, adding that it offers "a more raw and improvisational representation of the composition process in its early stages."

"These were actually the very first recordings I gathered when I began working on this record in August of 2017," Davachi says of Laurus. "A week or two before I moved from Canada to LA, I did several recording sessions at Pacific Spirit United Church in Vancouver and Chapelle Saint-Louis in Montréal on two beautiful Casavant organs from 1964 and 1916, respectively."

The tape, which will also be available digitally, is the latest in a string of releases from Davachi this year, including a number of self-released Bandcamp EPs, a cassette for Boomkat Editions' Documenting Sound series, a live album, and double album Cantus, Descant.
