New Weird Britain Free Gig At New River
John Doran , March 21st, 2019 16:19

Good folk from Knifeworld, Trencher, UKAEA, TOTS, Apocalypse Jazz Unit and more come together to celebrate Europe on Brexit Eve with FREE gig

Whether it's Leave Eve or Reprieve Eve, the good folk at New River Studio (and us) believe we should have a party either way - to celebrate or commiserate. Full details here.

So on Thursday March 28 NRS is throwing open its doors for free and providing an evening of New Weird Britain live music, spoken word and DJ sets... and all you need to do is come down and get mellow lit. Doors at 7pm, it all starts at 7.30pm on the dot.

The entertainment includes Self-Help (the industrial dub spoken word outfit formed by Mark Dicker (Trencher/ Palehorse) and John Doran playing a new set of ritual electronics and occult incantations bolstered by a brass and woodwind section.

The mean, keen, spoken word machine Simon Joseph presents a piece on B**t and Chloe Herrington (VALVE/Chrome Hoof) and Kavus Torabi (Gong/Cardiacs) will be wrangling EU-sourced field recordings with bassoon and guitar.

As if that were not enough UKAEA is rebranding himself as UKAEU for one night only to play a Eurodynamic DJ set.

Come and celebrate, come and commiserate.
