In March, poet Will Burns and composer Hannah Peel will release Chalk Hill Blue, their first collaborative album. The album title refers to an iridescent blue-grey butterfly found in the chalk heaths of Buckinghamshire, where Burns lives and works. He explains, “The old paths, the old buildings, the sight of a chalk hill blue or a greater butterfly orchid at the Ragpits - we don’t need these things for nostalgia, or for some sentimental reverie, we need them for the depth of life they summon, and to live through the world in all its wild abundance and richness, however small. To cultivate our own story-making of the earth as all that it can and should be.” You can watch a short film about the process of making the record above.

Chalk Hill Blue is out 22 March via Rivertones, the record label of the Caught By The River website. The pair will perform the album at select venues across the UK this year. Check out the performance dates below.
