Writer and tQ alumn Harry Sword's forthcoming book Monolithic Undertow has been acquired by Faber & Faber

Monolithic Undertow, a new book by Harry Sword, has been acquired by Faber & Faber for publication in Autumn 2020.

The book explores 'the drone', tracing a path from neolithic Indo-European traditions to the modern underground by way of mid 20th century New York.

Along the way Sword explores Indian raga masters, medieval troubadours, Hawkwind, Faust, Ash Ra Temple, Brian Eno, John Cale, Sunn O))), Swans and many, many more.

As well as being a regular contributor here at tQ, Sword is also a writer for Vice, Munchies, Record Collector, CAMRA's Beer Magazine and Red Bull Music Daily.

Lee Brackstone, Creative Director Faber Social said: "Harry Sword has hit upon a uniquely revealing way to unpick and re-stitch together the many narratives of underground, doom, heavy, ambient and generally blissed out music. This is a book for real Heads, with all the elitist and rarefied bullshit of such projects stripped away. This will be a book full of righteous insights and improbable connections; a glorious addition to the small canon of genuinely mind-expanding music literature."
