Much loved label releases free compilation amid a raft of celebrations

Much loved label Erased Tapes is celebrating its tenth anniversary this month, and have released a free compilation on their new website, alongside the premiere of their Erased Tapes Sound Gallery.

You can listen to the album, Erased Tapes Collection VIII for free here, which contains tracks from new signings Penguin Café and Daniel Brandt, as well as Allred & Broderick, the new project of Peter Broderick.

Elsewhere there's work by Rival Consoles, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Immix Ensemble & Vessel, a previously undreleased Ryan Davis remix of Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm, and more.

The label was founded by German-born Robert Raths in 2007, pictured above, who says of the celebrations: "I simply want to tell a story, whether that's by compiling this annual collection of songs that connects the dotsbetween all these works of music we had the honour of releasing over the years, or curating a label in general. It helps me reminisce and revisit the moments that brought us all closer together, that make us human."

"With each year the picture becomes clearer and the message less reliant on words. I hope that this music helps the listener as much as it helps me to keep imagining, keep focusing, keep awake in a time when silence and peace is so hard to come by. May our new space provide a haven, reflecting these values we share and allowing people to find a moment to slow down in this fast-paced world we live in."

Erased Tapes will also be curating a number of festival stages this year, beginning at Totnes' Sea Change Festival this August, where Douglas Dare and Japanese Vibraphonist Masayoshi Fujita will perform.

More events will be announced throughout the year, while you can visit the Erased Tapes Sound Gallery at 174 Victoria Park Road, E9, London.
