At the start of December last year John Doran came back into work after a fortnight off recovering from a head injury to record the latest Quietus Hour with his partner in audio crime, Luke Turner... and the experience was so hectic he had to take a further four weeks off work on the sick. Luckily during this tiny parenthesis of productivity the pair managed to record a show on the 27th floor of Number 20 Fenchurch Street, aka the Walkie Talkie. The interminable chat covers Gary Numan's fear of heights, appearing in school plays, the joys of the Samoan fog cutter, creating music from Twitter, haunted houses and the sad demise of the housing estate pop man. All of the music comes from tQ's Reissues etc. Of 2016 Chart and includes volcanic cuts from the likes of Earl Brutus, Hey Colossus, The Headhunters, Camberwell Now, Mike (Paradinas) and Rich (Aphex Twin), Ganimian And His Oriental Music, Tee Mac and Marjorie Barnes, Ludus, Bruce Haack, Carly Rae Jepson and Coil.
