"Grace" from Danielle de Picciotto on Vimeo.
Renowned individually for their work in multimedia art and Einstürzende Neubauten respectively, Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke have been leading an adventurous, nomadic lifestyle together since 2010, motivated by a belief that "artists need to find new ways of working now-a-days in order to upkeep integrity and autonomy. The old patterns no longer function,” they say.
Their new album, Perseverantia, is the latest in a series of multifaceted projects on which the couple have collaborated over the past 15 years. The record's second music video, for 'Grace', visualises the thematic ideas implied by the music's portentous drone with its silent cinema-style narration and arresting shots of children holding cue cards adorned with maxims such as "poverty", "war" and "nuclear weapons".
'Grace' can be viewed above, and Perseverantia is out now on POTOMAK. For more information about the record and the artists, head here. You can catch the pair at the below live dates across Europe in the coming weeks.
