Four months on from the homophobic rant that instantly killed Ten Walls’ career, the Lithuanian producer has issued an apology claiming it was “completely out of character”.

In the Facebook rant posted in June (and later deleted of course) that caused a number of festivals and promoters to instantly cancel his bookings, the producer compared homosexuality to paedophilia and suggested that gay people were a “different breed”, prompting widespread condemnation and even criticism from the Lithuanian president.

Today's apology, which has handily been sent as an “exclusive” to DJ Mag, sees him express “regret” and call his comments “very offensive. I am ashamed to have hurt so many people: my family, my country, my colleagues, my friends, the Global LGBT community and many others. Since then I have taken time out to reflect on what I did and work out a way of apologizing that expresses how sorry I am.” The apology sees the producer attempt to absolve himself of accusations of homophobia, concluding: “I hope you can forgive me and that one day through my actions and future behaviour, I will once again be accepted for my music.” He says that he is now apparently working on an “electronic opera” called ‘Carmen’ with a strong anti-homophobic message. “I hope my involvement in this project will be the first step to educating others in my home country that homophobia is simply not acceptable and that everyone should be free to live the life they choose,” he says.
