Jordan Gross, the co-founder of Hackney club Oval Space, has teamed up with design engineer Michael Guerra to open a new club called The Pickle Factory in Bethnal Green this October billing it as "an intimate new space for music lovers".

The new venue will be just opposite Oval Space and, as reported by Resident Advisor, it has been described thusly: “minimal frills, stripped-back lighting and a new top of the range, as-yet-unreleased soundsystem” supplied by German tech company d&b audiotechnik.

The organisers have outlined a succinct program plan for the new venue, though are yet to announce any line-ups. Live shows will happen midweek, while Friday nights will be presided over by the Oval Space staff and will revolve around “plenty of unannounced guests, no more than three artists per night, and all-night long sets as standard”. London promoters will be given sway over Saturday night proceedings.

This is promising news following the story that surfaced just yesterday about the dwindling number of nightclubs in the UK over the past 10 years. The Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) published details that reported that the number of venues had almost halved, as there were 3,144 night clubs open for business around the country in 2005, and in 2015 the number stands at just 1,733. The association cited factors like planning restrictions and people living in town centres not wishing to be disturbed by nightlife as possible causes for the large scale of closures.
