Former Strawberry Switchblade member set to reissue solo album via Night School in September

It is with the greatest excitement that we announce that Rose McDowall will be releasing a brand new album very soon. The Glaswegian singer-songwriter, who found fame with new-wave pop group Strawberry Switchblade, will be putting out a remastered version of Cut With The Cake Knife this autumn.

Cut With The Cake Knife began its life back in the late 1980s, when McDowall recorded a nine-track album of songs originally intended for Strawberry Switchblade’s follow up to their self-titled debut. Since leaving Strawberry Switchblade, McDowall's sugary vocals have appeared on records with Felt, Coil and David Tibet’s experimental folk-outfit Current 93, to name but a few.

The reissue will include previously unreleased recordings, photographs and sleeve notes, making it a necessity for Strawberry Switchblade fans whose appetites have gone unsated for many a year. tQ’s own Ben Graham sat down for a chat with Rose recently, the particular details of who said what to whom will be revealed closer to the time of release. Cut With The Cake Knife is out September 18 via Night School and Sacred Bones, and you can pre-order here.
