Band announce new, self-titled album, due in April, followed by UK tour

tQ favourites Wire are back. They'll be putting out their thirteenth, self-titled album through their own label pink flag on April 13, and have given a first taste of it with 'Joust & Jostle' - listen above. Wire was recorded at the much-feted Rockfield Studios in Wales and Brighton Electric, combining extensively tour-honed material with songs introduced by the band's frontman Colin Newman immediately before their studio time began, and is the first to include guitarist Matthew Simms (of It Hugs Back) from the start. Says Newman of the band at the present moment: "The point where our personal narratives meet is all about change - moving on and keeping it interesting for ourselves. We're in it for the long haul and this is a one-way trip."

The group will kick off a huge UK and US tour with two nights in Brighton on April 12 and 13, followed by DRILL: LEXINGTON, a five-night run at The Lexington in London from April 14-18, where the band will be picking a different support band each night in collaboration with the Quietus. Head to their website to take a look and pre-order the album, while Luke Turner's Strange World Of Wire, from around the release of their last album, 2013's Change Becomes Us, is here.
